The Capital of the Neko race. Located between the Plains of Remolus, The Blackwood Forest and The dark Mountains, this city accommodates to all the different kind of nekos there are, acting as a perfect get away from other, non-neko societies.

Layout

The city is built along the foot of the dark mountain range, partly reaching inside the Blackwood Forest. Inside the forest, the nekos mostly live inside tree houses, while outside the forest, they mostly use cobblestone and wood-framed houses; the city is relatively narrow structured. While the different nekos are mostly living mixed throughout the whole city, it is noticeable that Leos prefer to live uphill while Vulpis and Felis prefer the forest lifestyle. Non-Neko races sometimes decide to settle down in the city, though they usually live in the outskirts area.

Economy

Nokyo thrives on hunting in the forest and mining Taelit in the Dark Mountains. While the miners mostly rely on magic to get their job done due to the severe lack of physical strength in the neko race, the hunters rely almost exclusively on their natural talents as feline creatures. The Taelit is primarily sold in bulk with contracts with other cities, but the local blacksmith still always has a stash ready to go if the need ever arrives. The meat market is extremely flooded with all sorts of excellent quality products, ranging from little mice, over hares, and boars all the way up to perfect bear meat.

Security

The whole city is covered in small, about 10-meter-high watchtowers manned by at least two guards. They continue to watch the roads below and check the horizon for incoming threats. The towers are manned to the brim, especially during a full Lunara, as Nokyo's most common threats are the wolven Lycanthropes of the Black Forest.

On the plains and forest site, the city is surrounded by a 2-meter-tall wall. Additionally, the outskirts of the forest are covered in bear traps, which are refreshed before every full Lunar night.

Leisure

Social Meeting spots are spread throughout the city, be it parks, pubs, or temples. Some more notable spots are listed below.

The Clawed Paw

A tavern that is known within the criminal underworld for its discretion. Shady deals and meetings can be held here without the barkeeper throwing any looks towards you. While resting here for the night is an option, rogues or any person of criminal background know that they should avoid doing so if they are keen on keeping their belongings.

The Feline Fella

This is a tavern where many honest workers drink their stress away after a long day of work. The owner personally ensures, sometimes by force, that the people can safely enjoy their evenings without worrying about their belongings. Resting here for the night is guaranteed to be safe and sound.

Religion

Generally speaking, nekos are not bound to any deity. However, they are still thankful to the origin gods for creating a world for them to live in, so they have little shrines in their honor throughout the city. These shrines are medium-sized statues representing the main symbols of Ayla in the form of a faceless lady emptying a caravel of water, Norn in the form of a bulky human holding up a scale, and Tael, purely represented by the blooming flower of life.

Places of Public service

Miko's Rangers Headquarters

The official HQ of the Forest Watch lead by Miko herself. Of course the real HQ is hidden deep inside the forest, but when it comes to any form of official business, this is the place to go.

Town Hall

Residence and office of the current mayor of the town. In front of it is a blackboard with the city's and the local adventure guild's current requests.
