As the god of Justice, Norn is not only considered a major god, but is also one of the three origin gods that shaped the world from the very beginning. He resides within the Gallery, hidden deep inside the Dark Mountains with his Lifelong partner, Ayla.
Role
God of Justice
As the god of Justice, Norn is considered the last resort when the mortal realm's judicial system cannot reach a verdict. As the keeper of all the world's history, he will take all of it into consideration when deciding the ultimate verdict during a Norn Trial.
Norn Trials
When the verdict is announced, and everything seems hopeless, there is one option left in the courtroom that only a few would even dare. Every court on Tael allows this tradition to take place, where the guilty can demand a so-called Trial by Norn. At any point after the verdict has been declared, the accused can shout out, "I demand trial by Norn!", which will completely nullify the verdict and any charges held against him. However, the person will then be judged by the God of Justice himself, who has the entire History of every single life on Tael on the golden walls of the Gallery at his disposal. He will weigh everything the accused has ever done, good and bad, and ultimately declare whether the verdict was appropriate or not. However, there is a catch to this Trial. If Norn declares you not guilty, you are completely free to go and continue with your life, sometimes even blessed by Norn if he sees you in good favor. If he finds you guilty, however, the punishment far outweighs the original sentence and will, in the worst possible case, even end in being exiled into the Void.
This harsh punishment is to prevent people from just always demanding such trial, as Norn does not take joy in influencing the world too much and ultimately wishes for the justice system not to require him anymore at some point.
Origin God
As one of the origin gods, Norn's main goal in this world is to archive everything that ever happens in it, creating countless stories on the walls of the Gallery. To help with such an enormous task, he has created helpers in the form of Historians, who will act as sleeper agents all around the globe, documenting everything that happens that they come across. Additionally, he has tasked himself with protecting the world of Tael at all costs from the dangers of the Void, going as far as having made an agreement with the Voidlords near Tael to fend off potentially aggressive other Lords in exchange for an occasional life for "exhibition" purposes.
Historians
Main article: Historian
Agents in the name of Norn, anonymously blending in with the crowd, always watching, always observing. If even the slightest minor event is happening, from a little thievery on the streets to secret assassinations of kings, a Historian was probably nearby, not judging, not grieving, just observing. If there somehow wasn't one around, they will find out sooner than later; such is their never-ending mission given by Norn.
Avatar of Earth
As one of the origin gods, and therefore creator of Tael, Norn claims responsibility for the earth its inhabitants are walking on. He has shaped the lands and mountains that are now known throughout all of Tael.
Appearance
When summoned to court or generally out and about on business, Norn usually wears white robes with golden strings and chains garnished with heavy plated armor around vital parts of the body as well as a golden helmet in the design of a perfectly balanced scale. When he is casually walking around the Gallery, he usually wears simple white robes.
His body is massive in size and quite muscular. He has short, white, curly hair and a full beard. Norn's eyes are bright golden colors.
History
As one of the creators of this world, Norn has been here from the very beginning, though he tries to stay as much out as possible from mortal affairs, as he does not want to influence the potential history or even fate of the people on Tael.
