There is always a fixed number of Historians in the world at any given moment; if one, for some reason dies, leaves the world, or retires, another will instantly take its place. The next historian is predetermined by the old historian; if he did not specify a new historian before his passing, the new one would be chosen randomly. Any Historian can, at any point in time, decline their duty and return to their normal life.

The duty of a historian is to document everything that happens in the world. The profession of historians is rare and exclusive, undertaken by only a select few on Tael. They serve as Norn's emissaries, tasked with meticulously archiving every aspect of the world.

Description

The number of Historians in the world is always fixed, ensuring a seamless transition of duties. If a Historian passes away, departs from the world, or retires, a successor is immediately chosen. The next Historian is typically designated by the previous one, but if no such designation was made, the new Historian is selected randomly. At any point, a Historian can choose to step down and return to their normal life.

A historian must document everything that happens in the world. When an event occurred that none of the Historians perceived fully, for example, when it took place in an ungodly place, they may move out to seek the truth. If a historian asks you about any event, he will usually use a truth spell to fill the golden halls of the gallery with correct data. If you somehow manage to still lie to them willingly and they find out later, they will hunt you down to justify yourself before Norn himself. Powerful people might be able to escape their first few attempts. However, the longer someone escapes the celestial judgment, the more likely they are to use lethal force.

Abilities

In addition to the character's usual abilities from classes and races, the historian gains a few special abilities to help him fulfill his duty.

Eyes of Truth

Can be toggled at any time. While active, creatures that can see your eyes while talking to you are magically inclined to tell the truth. If they succeed in a Wisdom 18 check, they can still attempt to lie.

Shadow Teleportation

As long as no one can currently see the Historian, he can freely teleport to any place in the world, as long as his target location is also not observed currently by anyone.

Celestial Scrying

He can pinpoint the location of any creature he desires down to a 1,000-meter radius, independent of how well he knows the target. However, casting this takes one full day.
